Nova Extraction launches CO2 extraction facility in UK

At Nova Extraction we opened doors for our clients to perform trials or small production runs on our 25-litre supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction system.

This is an exciting opportunity for companies thinking about trying supercritical CO2 extraction as a technology for competitive product development. Our facility is often used as a scaling up step between the lab and industrial solution (which we naturally offer at Nova Extraction).

However, other clients are interested in small production runs to generate meaningful amount of product for further downstream refinement or for marketing reasons.

For example, one of our first projects was a week of studying CO2 extraction of cannabinoid CBD from industrial hemp. We helped our client to scale up the methodology that they developed in the lab.

We designed optimum parameters for the yield and economic efficiency on 25L extraction vessel with flow rates of 2.5 – 3.5 litres per minute. In a week we performed 10 experiments and processed almost 50kg of hemp generating meaningful amount of product for further refinement and analytical studies.
